Welcome (back) to our analogue social network!

Do you sometimes feel that the time you spend on social media self-promoting your work is far longer than what you spend doing actual work and, even so, your work doesn’t really get seen anyway?

Yeah, we know how that feels. But don’t take it to heart. Instead, join us on 29-31 August, 2024 between 12:00–17:00, at Sepsi Tabakó Festival, for a nice offline session of photo-printing, out in the fresh air and under the sun, with Ștefan Dinu – Allkimik co-founder.
We’re going to explore the same beautiful process we’ve used in creating our Share, Tag or Dye collective installation in MAGMA Contemporary Art Space: the cyanotype – a nineteenth century photographic process based on iron salts that are UV sensitive and yield a beautiful deep blue print. The technique is credited to Sir John Herschel (1842), which he used mostly for reproducing notes. But because science and art have gone hand in hand in photography since the beginning, the cyanotype is also to blame for the first publication of scientific illustration using photography (an iconic book in the art world as well), namely “Photographs of British Algæ: Cyanotype Impressions” by Anna Atkins – pretty cool, right?
If you want to know more about this process, before joining us, dive into Alternative Photography.

Join us and remember: Share, Tag or Dye! Europe Wide!

Share, Tag or Dye Europe Wide is the third iteration of program Share, Tag or Dye manned by the Allkimik Photographic Association, in partnership with Marginal, Alternative Photography and the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics, as well as CETAL – the Centre for Advanced Laser Technologies, MAGMA Contemporary Art Space, Experimental Photo Festival, and VAGon – In(ter)disciplined Space
