As a following of the events- and residency programs offered by the B5 Studio in the 2014–2015 period, the Eight Present Artist series of events brings together the experience of several contemporary artists and their approach to Târgu Mureș, the ways in which their processes and practices question, reveal or amplify the town’s both cultural and political symbolic content.

It is an invitation to a normal and natural dialogue on the edge of ideologies and official myths. Its goal is to break, as much as possible the parallel narratives that reduce Târgu Mureș to a space of ethnic monologues. Defined in terms of visibility of contemporary arts, inter-community dialogue and proximity between contemporary art and public, Eight Present Artist offered a series of five openings of individual and group exhibitions and event starters. In order to mobilize local culture, these have been taken place in different locations in Târgu Mureș, 2015: the Palace of Culture, Camera K’arte, B5Studio, the Orthodox Synagogue and the Tudor residential area is now on show at MAGMA Contemporary Art Space as a collaboration with B5 Studio / ARTeast Foundation.

After the opening, Christina HARTL-PRAGER from Vienna will present her artistic activity.

Eight Present Artist is part of the Urban Present project as an additional program of the 23rd Alter-Native Short Film Festival. Project co-funded by the Communitas Foundation and AFCN – Administrația Fondului Cultural Național.
